Alistair grew up in a family involved with
timber milling and manufacturing, and a construction company in Christchurch,
New Zealand. He began his working life in the timber mill, then as a truck
driver while completing his science degree. After theological training
he spent 13 years in pastoral ministry in two Baptist churches in N.Z.
Alistair was Coordinator of Servants to Asia's Urban Poor for four years,
a Christian mission and development agency.
He has served as Canterbury
staff worker for the Tertiary Students Christian Fellowship, and written
an MTh thesis exploring the theology of work and the equipping and support
of Christians for life in places of work. He spent 1996 conducting an extensive
survey about faith and work issues, and has since developed a number of
training modules for the 'Faith at Work' project in partnership with the
Bible
College of New Zealand and other organisations.
Alistair is married to Alison and they
have two children, Catherine and Christopher.
He is presently pastor of Ilam Baptist
Church in Christchurch.
