This course explores the biblical and theological concepts of calling. We also examine historical developments in the understanding of vocation and different approaches to vocational guidance as it relates to work and ministry in the community of faith and the world. Students will examine their own sense of calling and seek to clarify the nature of that call. 
 

Vocation Work and Ministry Course Outline
This course includes sessions on the following subjects:

  • biblical perspectives on calling, mission and ministry.
  • overview of how understandings of vocation, work and ministry have altered and developed in Christian history.
  • analysis and critique of different ways the guidance of God has been understood and experienced
  • Identification of personal skills, preferences, motivational patterns, values. etc..using the SoulPurpose Workbook and working towards assembling a personal profile in order to evaluate current life roles, and to plan for future career/ministry choices.
  • Analysis of ways people can work towards the integration of work-family-self  life cycles within their life of faith.understanding ways in which communities of faith can play a more constructive role in offering vocational guidance and support to their members.
